Making Sense

Does anyone besides me have trouble making sense of the world we live in?

My mom and dad taught me a good life would have balance and harmony.  They did not mention, however, there would be people and events trying conspiring to keep us off-balance and in dishormony.

I was also taught the good will eventually win out over the evil.  But it’s one helluva fight, isn’t it?

Our mantra was to do good for others without thinking of reward.  But I’ve also felt the “no good deed goes unpunished” law at work.

I was taught, “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”  Looking back, I should have opted for more moments in silence.

Play to win, but play by the rules.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to swallow hard on that one.

I’d like to hear some of the things you were taught and how it has worked out trying to live by those rules.

And how you’re making sense of the world we live in.
